Bat Adventures in Bukit Kuri, Kalimantan

From 20 to 27 January 2025, our dedicated lab members (Amin, Iylia, Danish, Asfa and Victor) ventured deep into the forests of Bukit Kuri, Kalimantan for a week-long bat sampling expedition. Braving humid nights, the team worked tirelessly to capture, identify and collect data from various bat species as part of ongoing Chiropteran research.

Bats from family Vespertilionidae was found roosting in Gua Mentawai, Bukit Kuri, Kalimantan.

Bats from family Hipposideridae and Rhinolophidae were also found in the cave.

Morphological measurements underway to support taxonomy and species identification with students from Universitas Tanjungpura (UNTAN); Wahyu, Firhan and Tambun.
