Heart of Borneo initiative was established in 2010 focusing on to protect the biological, ecological and cultural richness of the Bornean rainforest. Our lab been invited to participate in this program at Long Banga, Miri.
The sampling trip was carried out from 22nd August until 2nd September 2016. 13 students from the lab join the trip and we were accompanied by our lab assistant, Mr Huzal.
Our focus is mainly on sampling and surveying the small mammals in the area, such as bats, rodents and shrews. Along the way, we encountered lots of interesting flora and fauna in the area.
HoB program is a very comprehensive and structured program that we believe will achieves its objectives. The experience that we gain from this trip is priceless and important for our future undertakings.
